Abstract:

The objective of this paper was to study the complex formed by antibiotics drugs and rare earth ions, which was used as corrosion inhibitors. The complex would be excellent corrosion inhibitor for the surface of aluminum alloy immersed in 3.5% NaCl solution at 30 °C. The corrosion inhibition performance and surface morphology of aluminum alloy with different concentrations of cefoperazone sodium (CFPS), Tb3+ and their mixed solution were studied by weight loss measurement, electrochemical measurement, scanning electron microscope (SEM), atomic force microscope (AFM), contact angle test and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). When CFPS and Tb3+ were mixed at 1:2, the optimal corrosion inhibition efficiency can reach more than 90%, indicating that the complexes at this point formed more compact adsorption film prevent corrosion on the surface of the aluminum alloy. The results of surface morphology test suggested that the metal surface with CFPS-Tb3+ was most smooth among the inhibitors of CFPS, Tb(NO3)3 and their complex CFPS-Tb3+. The complexes adhered to the metal surface and inhibited corrosion. Tb3+ and CFPS as corrosion inhibitors not only could reduce the amount of rare earth, but also had better effect on aluminum alloy. In conclusion, the booming of the green metal corrosion inhibitors is expected to be promoted.
