Graphene oxide coated gold nano particles are emerging materials in many applications because of their distinctive properties. In this work, we have prepared a very simple and eco-friendly method for the synthesis of graphene oxide (GO) and graphene oxide decorated gold nano particles (GO–Au NPs). The spectral, and morphological characteristics were analysed using various instrumental analysis. Also, the investigation deals with the screening of antibacterial activity of graphene oxide, gold nano particles and the graphene oxide decorated Gold NPs against Gram-positive bacterial strain Staphylococcus aureus and Gram-negative bacterial strain Eschrichia coli by disc diffusion test and minimum inhibitory concentration. It was observed that the hybrid graphene oxide decorated Gold NPs showed better antibacterial activity than the other two tested components.
