Abstract: Carbon dots-silver nanoparticles/nanocomposites are growing in favor due to their unique features and applications such as photocatalysis, sensing, and antibacterial agent. In this work, microwave-assisted CDs and carbon dots-silver (CDs–Ag NCs) nanocomposite was synthesized by a two-step novel approach (reduction and addition) without using any hazardous chemicals. The CDs serve as a good reductant and stabilizer possess a considerable potential for facile synthesis of silver nanocomposite. The carbon dots-silver nanocomposite was analyzed by UV–visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopic techniques. Furthermore, the nanocomposite (NCs) displayed a promising antibacterial activity against pathogenic E. coli (Gram negative) and S. aureus (Gram positive). Thus, the derived nanocomposite is considered to have a great potential in biomedical applications.
