Abstract: Alkylated fluorene-based conjugated porous polymers (CPPs) were developed for electrochemical detection of nitroaromatics (NAs). Poly[(1, 3, 5-tris(9,9-dihexyl-9H-fluorene-2,7-diyl) benzene)] [PPHF] and poly[(1,3,5-tris(5-(9,9-dihexyl-9H-fluorene) thiophene-2-yl)benzene)] [PPTHF], two CPPs with modified morphologies, showed improved porosity and charge transfer to NAs. PPTHF, featuring a thiophene moiety, exhibited superior sensing capabilities for 1,2-dinitrobenzene (1,2-DNB). Computational analysis confirmed strong bindings. This work introduces a novel approach for real-time safety monitoring and effective electrochemical sensing of NAs. Graphical abstract
