Synthesis of benzo[c]acridine derivatives using poly(4-vinylpyridinum) trinitromethanide as an efficient catalyst

Abstract:

In this project, poly(4-vinylpyridinum) trinitromethanide [P4VPH]C(NO2)3 as a newly reported heterogeneous catalyst was utilized for the promotion of the synthesis of benzo[c]acridine derivatives via the three-component condensation of various aromatic aldehydes, dimedone, and 1-naphthylamine. All the obtained products were identified with the comparison of their physical properties and spectral data with the authentic samples. By using this catalyst, the relevant products were obtained during reasonable times with high yields. Also, this heterogeneous catalyst can be reused up to three times without significant loss of its catalytic activity.
