Synthesis and Crystal Structure of 5,6,8,9-Tetrahydro-7-phenyldibenzo[c,/i]acridine

Abstract: 5,6,8,9-Tetrahydro-7-phenyldibenzo[c, h]acridine was obtained from 5,6,8,9-tetrahydro-7-phenyl-dibenzo[c, h]xanthylium tetrafluoroborate in reaction with [3-(2-phenylethyl)phenyl]methylamine. Its crystal structure was determined by the X-ray method. fn the title molecule the phenyl ring is connected to the almost flat butterfly-like acridine residue. In the crystal only pseudostacking interactions between central acridine rings and also between acridine and aromatic rings forming columns along [101]over bar] direction occur.
