Abstract: The effects of composition of suliobelitic clinker and polymers present upon the processibility and cross-linkability during MDF processing have been studied. The behaviour of MDFs within the sulfobelitic clinker/hpmc/poly-P system is controlled by the Ar(Fe)-O-C(P) cross-links formed in the local structure of the intergranular mass. Exposure to moisture confirms similarities to Portland cement-based MDFs in resolving effects of relative humidity below/above 50 %. Percolation of the material by water vapour and secondary surface corrosion-formation of Ca(OH)(2) - exert technological consequences and display a need for further improvement.
