1-(5-Nitro-2-furyl)-2-propenylation of Aromatic Derivatives under Friedel-Crafts Conditions

Abstract: Utilization of 1-(5-nitro-2-furyl)-2-bromopropene for propenylation of electron-rich aromatics in the presence of AlCl3 is described. 1H  NMR spectroscopy was used to monitor the complex-forming equilibrium substrate-AlCl3. 13C  NMR spectra of the prepared 2-aryl-1-(5-nitro-2-furyl)propenes are analyzed.
