Abstract: 2-Aminothiophenol reduces selectively 5-azido-2-furaldehyde to 5-amino-2-furaldehyde. 2-Aminophenol and 4-nitro-l,2-diaminobenzene
both react with 5-azido-2-furaldehyde to form azomethines, which decompose, producing in turn intermediates the cyclization of which leads to the
ultimate products, namely bibenzoxazoline, benzoxazine, and quinoxaline
derivatives.
