Determination of the enthalpy of crystallization of ternary eutectic melt in the system 2CaO.Al₂O₃.SIO₂ CaO.Al₂O₃..2SiO₂-CaO.SiO₂

Abstract: Using a precursor method the ternary eutectic melt of the system 2CaO.Al₂O₃.SIO₂ CaO.Al₂O₃..2SiO₂-CaO.SiO₂  (composition 38.0 mass % CaO, 20.1 mass % Al₂O₃, 41.9 mass % Si0₂) and wollastonite (CaO • Si02) were prepared. Besides wollastonite, gehlenite (2CaO•Al₂O₃• Si0₂) and anorthite (CaO•Al₂O₃•2Si0₂) crystallize from the eutectic melt at equilibrium temperature of 1538 K.
