Acylations of metallocenes with ω-oxo-ω-phenylalkanoyl chlorides chlorides of oxo acids as acylating agents

Abstract: Ferrocene, ruthenocene, and tricarbonyl(η-cyclopentadienyl)manganese were acylated with chlorides of oxo acids С₆Н₅СО(СН₂)_nСОСl. Expected unsymmetrically substituted diketones were isolated in reactions with fer­ rocene (for n = 3—8), ruthenocene (n = 8), and tricarbonyl(η-cyclopentadienyl)manganese (n= 4,6). Being accompanied with unsaturated lactones the chlorides with n = 2, 3 gave complicated mixtures of products with fer­ rocene but did not react with tricarbonyl(η-cyclopentadienyl)manganese.
