Cryometric determination of the enthalpy of fusion of sodium cryolite

Abstract:  Using the method of classical thermal analysis a part of the liquidus of sodium cryolite in the system Na₃AlF₆—Na₃FS0₄ was measured in the composition range 0—5 mole % Na₃FSO₄. On the basis of these results the molar enthalpy of fusion of cryolite was calculated. It was found that ∆H_f(Na₃AlF₆)=115.4 kJ mol^-1; error in this result was estimated to be ±4.9 %.
