 ¹³C and ¹H NMR chemical shifts of substituted 2-benzylidene-1,3-cycloheptanediones

Abstract:   The 13C- and ¹H-n.m.r. chemical shifts of substituted 2-benzylidene-1,3-cycloheptanediones have been assigned. Correlations of ¹³C-n.m.r. sub­stituent chemical shifts of both carbonyl carbons as well as ethylenic carbons with the Hammett substituent constants have been found. The transmission of electronic substituent effects on the chemical shifts of these carbon atoms is discussed.
