Determination of heats of formation of gadolinium phosphate (GdPO₄) and gadolinium phosphate dihydrate (GdPO₄∙2H₂O) hexagonal modifications

Abstract: Three samples of hexagonal modification of GdPO₄ hydrates were prepd.: GDPO₄ ∙ 0.81H₂O, GdPO₄∙ 1.05H₂O, and GdPO₄∙1.41H₂O. The heats of formation  ∆H_m,f,GdPO4hex and ∆H_{m,f,GdP04.2H20hex} were calcd. on the basis of Hess' law by using the following data: heats of dissoln. of GdPO₄∙xH₂O, Gd₂O₃, NH₄H₂PO₄, NH₄NO₃, and H₂O (this paper), heat of dissoln. of HNO₃ and heat of formation of reactants and products.
