Heteronuclear complex of N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-N-carboxymethylaminoacetohydroxamic acid with copper(II) and iron(III)

Abstract: The title compd. forms in solns. with excess Cu ions a binuclear complex [Cu₂(L_-1H)]⁺ and in solns. with both Cu and Fe ions it forms a ternary complex [CuFe(L_-1H)]²⁺. In both cases the complex formation is followed by splitting of 2 H ions from 1 carbohydroxamic functional group. Spectrophotometric characteristics and equil. consts. of the individual complexes are presented.
