2-(2-Amino-5-X-phenyl)benzotriazoles

Abstract:  2-(2-Amino-5-X-phenyl)benzotriazoles were prepared by cyclization reduc­tion of the corresponding 2-amino-5-X-2'-nitroazo compounds and their electronic spectra were investigated. In the preparation of the azo compounds, protection of the amino group in p-substituted anilines was examined by converting them to aminomethanesulfonates, prior the copulation with o-nitrobenzenediazonium chloride.lt was observed that besides the quoted azo compounds, new, so far not described derivatives, alkaline 1-(2-nitrophenyl)-3-(4-X-phenyl)triazene-3-methanesulfonates, were formed.
