Abstract: The magnetic properties of trichloro(aliph. alc.)titanium(III) complexes at 77-300 K were studied. The complexes TiCl3.4CH3OH, TiCl3.4C2H5OH, TiCl3.3n-C3H7OH, TiCl3.4i-C3H7OH, TiCl3.3n-C4H9OH, and TiCl3.3i-C4H9OH have effective magnetic moments at room temp. of 1.79-1.86 μB. The results are interpreted by using Figgis' method (1961). On the basis of the data and interpretation of diffuse reflectance spectra the structure of magnetically noninteracting structural units, which are considered to have tetragonally distorted octahedral symmetry, is proposed for these complexes.
