Abstract: In the presence of a catalytic amt. of BF3.Et2O the reaction of 1-chloro-2,3-epoxy-2-methylpropane with lower aliph. alcs. gives, besides the known 1-alkoxy-3-chloro-2-methyl-2-propanols, new 2-alkoxy-3-chloro-2-methyl-1-propanols.
