Preparation of N-acetylimidazole

Abstract:  The reaction of acetic anhydride with imidazole, 4(5)-methylimidazole, 4,5-dimethylimidazole, 2-methylimidazoline, and 2-methylbenzimidazole in anhydrous medium in the presence of triethylamine and at decreased tempera­tures is described.
