Temkin's and universal relationships for activities in systems having complete miscibility in the solid state

Abstract: Liquidus and solidus curves in binary systems of the 2nd kind having complete miscibility in liq. and solid states are analyzed from the math. and thermodn. points of view. The types T/K, K/T, T/T, U/K, K/U, U/U are discussed. (T, K or U denote Temkin's, classic or universal model for activity.). For each type the characteristic equation of liquidus or solidus curve (if the equation exists), and the equation for extremum are derived. The limit values of the tangents at the m.ps. of pure components are calcd. Thermodn. conditions for the existence of a monotonic course of liquidus and solidus curves and for a course with common extremum on both curves are detd.
