Thermal decomposition of ammonium cadmium decavanadate

Abstract:  This paper is concerned with the thermal decomposition of decavanadate of the composition (NH₄)₄CdV₁₀O₂₈ . 14H₂O. By X-ray phase analysis and infrared spectro­scopy it was found that this compound decomposed even before the completion of dehydration to give other polyvanadates. The decomposition reaction proceeded in several steps, the final product being a mixture of vanadium(V) oxide and cadmium metavanadate.
