Relations among standard potentials in electrochemical systems of type M, Ma+, Mb+

Abstract: The title systems are theor. analyzed. In the electrochem. systems formed by the metal M and its ions M^a+ and M^b+ (0 < a < b), 3 std. potentials i.e. Ea/0, Eb/0, and Eb/a exist and may be arranged in 2 ways in resp. to their relative magnitudes. The validity of these 2 modes of arrangement were proven without the use of the Luther equation: bE°b/0 = aE°a/0 + (b-a) E°b/a.
