Furan derivatives. LV. Preparation of 5-aryl-2-furfuryl phenyl and 5-aryl-2-furfuryl 4-tolyl sulfones

Abstract: The preparation of 5-(X-phenyl)-2-furfuryl phenyl sulfones (X = 4-N0_2, 3-N0₂, 2-NO₂, 4-Br, 4-Cl, 3-Cl, 2-Cl, 4,3-diCl, H, 4-CH₃) and 5-(X-phenyl)-2-furfuryl 4-tolyl sulfones (X = 4-N0₂ , 3-N0₂, 2-N0₂, 4-Br, 4-Cl, 3-Cl, 2-Cl, 4,3-diCl) is described. Sulfones were prepared by reaction of 5-аryl-2-furfuryl bromides with sodium arenesulfinate.
