Abstract:  Epimeric aldoheptoses have been obtained by oxidative decomposition of a mixture of sodium salts of nitroheptitols prepared from L-mannose. The aldoheptoses have been characterized by p.m.r. spectroscopy and by gas —liquid chromatography of their per-O-trimethylsilyl derivatives.
