Abstract:  The synthesis of nine 3,5-disubstituted rhodanines by condensation of 5-(4-nitrophenyl)-2-thiophenecarbaldehyde with 3-substituted aryl-, alkyl-, and aralkylrhodanines is described and the infrared and ultraviolet spectra of these compounds are interpreted.
