Isothiocyanates. XXX. Synthesis, Ultraviolet and Infrared Spectra of 3-Substituted  Rhodanines

Abstract:  The synthesis of twenty-five 3-substituted rhodanines is reported; eight of them are so far not described in the literature. The effect of substituents in position 3 on the shift of the C = 0 absorption band in the i.r. spectra is studied. 3-Substituted rhodanines reveal in u.v. spectra two intensive absorption bands associated with the "N" and "S" conjugation.
