Inhibition Effect of Ohenyl-β-naphthylamine on the Oxidation of Natural Rubber in the Presence of α,α-Diphenyl-β-picrylhydrazyl

Abstract: The inhibition effect of a mixture consisting of phenyl-β-naphthylamine and α,α-diphenyl-β-pricrylhydrazyl on the oxidation of natural rubber deprived of natural antioxidants was studied under conditions allowing the thermal generation of different amounts of rubber macroradicals. With increasing amount of radicals and at equimolar ratio of both substances, an outstanding synergism was observed. The function of both components in the course of the oxidation process is discussed.
