Fluctuation in the intensity of a light radiation. Observation methods, results, and applications

Abstract: By using a pulse-height selector, the distribution of spectral line intensities has been investigated for various discharges of the D. C. arc as well as of middle-voltage and high-voltage spark. This distribution is one of the causes of fluctuation of the results in spectrochemical analysis. The results obtained in the medium of various gases are examined with respect to different methods of excitation and different forms of electrodes.
