Chlorothioureacopper(II) complexes in nonaqueous solutions

Abstract: In the present work, copper(II) complexes with heterogeneous coordination
sphere in which thiourea or some of its derivatives form ligands, are
investigated. Formation of these complexes is always accompanied by
a remarkable change of colour. The investigated chlorothioureacopper(II)
complexes are kinetically rather unstable, the central atom being reduced
to Cu(I), the complexes are partly decomposed and the intensity of the
colour of the solution is lowered. Optical properties of the studied systems
were used for investigation of formation and composition of thioureacopper(
II) complexes, as well as for study of substitution and oxidation-
-reduction changes of the complexes.
