Antioxidant 252'-Selenobis(4-methyl-6-ř-butylphenol) Preparation, Infrared and Mass Spectra

Abstract: 2,2'-Selenobis(4-methyl-6-č-butylphenol) was prepared by reaction of SeOCl₂ with 2-t-butyl-4-methylphenol in anhydrous CHCl₃. The final product was isolated from the reaction mixture by crystallization and partition chromatography over silica gel using a dimethylfomiamide —n-hexane solvent system; its purity was checked by paper chromatography.
