Abstract: Sufficient amount of oil (2 g), so as to make determination of harmful
oxidation products in the resulting material feasible, is oxidated at elevated
temperature and at constant oxygen pressure. In a device oxygen is generated
automatically, simultaneously as it is spent. Oxidation proceeds till constant
oxygen consumption is attained and the dependence of oxygen used on time is
recorded. With the aid of this device it is possible to determine the oxidation
stability of hydrocarbons, gasolines, asphalts, polymers and similar liquids
or solids.
