Gravimetric determination of cadmium with β-resorcylidene thiosemicarbazone

Abstract: The solubility product of the cadmium salt of the reagent was determined in dependence on pH and it has been found that the optimal conditions are at pH 6.5—8.5. Cadmium is weighed either in the form of Cd(C₈H₈0₂N₃S)₂ or as a monohydrate. The presence of the alkali metal cations, Mg²⁺, Cu²⁺, Sr²⁺, Ba²⁺, As(III), As(V), NH₄⁺ and of smaller amounts of Zn²⁺ do not interfere with the determination.
