Inst. Phys. Nucl., Orsay, Fr.
Abstract: The mechanism of the migration of radioactive elements in a quartz tube filled with gas and deposited in a metal tube with a temp. gradient is described. One end of the tube was heated at 600-1200°, the other end was cooled down to 60°. This equation was detd. for the migration of the radioactive elements: t = Kexp (Q/RTm), where t is the time of the duration of the migration, Tm is the abs. temp. of the zone with the max. sediment, Q is the heat of the molar adsorption of the sublimated matter on the quartz, R is a gas const., and K is a const. This method was applied for the sepn. and purification of some radioactive elements. An example of the app. is shown for the sepn. of La and Eu.
