Effect of radiation on the halogenating activity of halocopper(II) and haloiron(III) complexes

Abstract: The effect of light on the halogenating activity of halocopper(II) and haloiron(III) complexes in Me₂CO and acrylonitrile (I) in relation to the oxidn.-redn. processes and to the mutual effect of ligands was studied. Properties of the following systems were studied: CuCl₂-Me₂CO, CuCl₂-LiCl-Me₂CO, CuCl₂-I, CuBr₂-I, CuCl₂-LiCl-I, FeCl₃-I, and FeCl₃-LiCl-I. Light increases the halogenating activity in the same way as does the mutual effect of the ligands in the heterogeneous complexes in these systems.
