Abstract: After the peroral administration of 2-thio-6-azathymine this substance is absorbed
in the digestive tract and according the experiment on the isolated rat intestine already
here it is partially metabolised.
Using 2-thio-6-azathymine-35S, and compound labelled by radiactive carbon, seven
and eight metabolites, respectively were found. Six of the mentioned substances have
the common centers from the position 2 and 4 of the original molecule. Furthermore,
it was proved, that during 24 hours ca 70 % of the applicated substance was excreted
by urine. Approximately 1/7 from the given dosis of 2-thio-6-azathymine was excreted
unchanged. Besides this 6-azathymine, 2-methylmercapto-6-azauracil and sulphate
anion were proved to be present in urine. In expired air, carbon dioxane was proved.
The remaining four metabolites have not been so far identified. Three of them afford
the possitive nitroprusside reaction.
In. the presented work the uptake of the radioactive substance by thyroid was investigated.
It was found that its amount was increased in time and in 24 hours it makes
0,43%.
