Abstract: The morphology and the conditions for the formation of Cu(II) complexes with the polysaccharide from beech hemicelluloses were studied with an electron microscope. Aq. solns. from the hemicelluloses dissolved in H2O at a higher temp. (75-80°) and hemicelluloses dissolved in N NaOH of the concns. 0.005-0.1% were pptd. with Fehling soln. (I and II) in the vol. ratio 1:1. The Cu(II) complex is shown as morphological aggregates of astroidal formations binding each other. The aq. solns. of hemicelluloses do not form a Cu(II) complex if only Fehling soln. I is applied. From the NaOH soln. of hemicelluloses, Fehling soln. I ppt. colloidal Cu(OH)2 with the hemicelluloses adhering to the surface.
