Abstract: A modified Baker-Williams method (CA 50, 15324b) for the pulsated fractional dissoln. of polymers is described. Prepn. chromatography with a shorter sepn. time and greater amts. of the fractions and with a temp. gradient in the column from 40° to 8° was applied. Two poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) samples were tested. One, PVC-S, a suspension, was of domestic (Czech.) and the other, Vipla PE, of Ital. origin. The individual fractions were characterized by the limitation viscosity nos. and detd. by graphic extrapolation according to Huggins equation. The polymer Vipla PE has a sym. distribution function of the limitation viscosity nos. according to the equation of Tung (CA 50, 16174i): I([η]) = 1 - exp(-620[η]2.85), while the function of the Polymer PVC-S was asym.
