Effect of pressure and temperature on the isomerization of Cu(NH3)2Br2

Abstract: The mutual change of α and β modifications of Cu(NH₃)₂Br₂ (I) by isomerization at increased pressure and temp. was studied by x-ray methods. By increasing the pressure to 120-180 atm., α-I changes to β-I but there is never a complete change to pure β-I. The temp. has no effect on α-I. β-I changes rapidly to α-I if the temp. is increased to 84° and the time is shortened to 30 hrs.
