Determination of Ni and Fe in ferrite cores (computers) by activation analysis

Abstract: The amt. of Ni and Fe was detd. by the destructive activation analysis of ferrite cores having a μ-layer of NiFe alloy. After the chem. sepn., the γ-activity of ⁵⁸Co and ⁵⁹Fe was measured with a 400-channel scintillation spectrometer. The amt. of Ni was detd. by comparing the peak area of 0.81-Mev. ⁵⁸Co with the standard. The amt. of Fe was detd. by comparing the peak area of 1.10-Mev. ⁵⁹Fe with the standard. The amts. found in NiFe alloy were 10-6 g. Ni and 10-6 g. Fe.
