Slovak Technical University, Bratislava

Abstract: cf. CA 55, 13504d. The optimum reaction conditions for the formation of active Cl bound with the ovalbumin in the soln. during the chlorination process were detd. They are pH 9.3 and 13.0, 6 hrs. chlorination, wt. and mol. ratio of Cl to N is 5:1 and 1.8:1, resp. The max. amts. of the bound active Cl can be acquired in the more alk. medium but with the formation of sol. chlorinated ovalbumin. However, the chlorination is most effective in more acid medium with the formation of an insol. chlorinated ovalbumin which can be sepd. by the filtration.
