Abstract: A method for the prepn. of high-purity As was described. Tech. pure As is heated at 300-350° and sublimed at 550° in a stream of H. It is oxidized at 300-350° in a stream of O to As2O3 and then crystd. from 6M HCl. Cryst. As2O3 is sublimed at 250-300° in H and then reduced at 800-850° to As. To eliminate S, Se, and Te, As is distd. from the molten mixt. with Pb. Arsenic of 99.999 to 99.999% purity was prepd. The purity was detd. by spectral analysis and by measuring the elec. properties of InAs.
