Preparation of pentaerythritol by a noncontinuous process

Abstract: The quant. relationship of the yield of pure pentaerythritol with the molar ratio and concns. of aldehydes in the reaction soln. in a noncontinuous process for its prepn. was described. In the range of molar ratios AcH-HCHO-CaO from 1:4:0.6 to 1:5.5:0.6, there was a relationship between the yield and the parameters. Max. yields were obtained at the molar ratio of aldehydes at 1:5 and at 7.0% concn.
