The solubility of gases in nonelectrolyte mixtures. The solubility of carbon dioxide in the binary nonaqueous mixtures

Abstract: The soly. of CO₂ at 20° and at the partial pressure of the gas at 760 torr was measured in MeOH-acetone, MeOH-CHCl₃, MeOH-C₆H₆, acetone-CHCl₃, acetone-C₆H₆ and CHCl₃-C₆H₆. For the measurements an app. was constructed. The soly. of the gas does not change linearly with the concn. of the components. For a better evaluation, Krichevskii's (CA 31, 41868) equation and an activity coeff. equation were applied. Good results were obtained in MeOH-acetone and CHCl₃-C₆H₆, but in the others the exptl. error was up to 20%.
