Acidic catalysis of the ionization of bis(1-chloroethyl) sulfide

Abstract: In substitution reactions of bis(2-chloroethyl) sulfide the dissocn. of the C.sbd.Cl bond is catalyzed by H ions. The kinetic measurements were carried out with sodium thiosulfate; 12 equations, 2 tables and 1 illustration were shown. It was detd. that the slowest part of the total change is the cleavage of the bond between C and Cl in the transient pos. charged intermediate.
