Oscillopolarographic determination of thalidomide

Abstract: An oscillopolarographic detn. of thalidomide (Contergan) in a supporting electrolyte contg. 0.1 M barbitone, 40.0% MeOH, and 0.1M LiCl was described. Thalidomide produced on the curve of the function dE/dt = f(E) an irreversible cathodic incision at the Q value 0.66. Thalidomide can be detd. at concns. as low as 2 γ/ml. with no interference from SO₄^-, NO₃^-, NO₂^-, Cl^-, or Br^-. Zn produced a discontinuity at the same potential as thalidomide.
