The determination of pyrocatechol oxidase activity

Abstract: A modification of a chronometric method for the detn. of pyrocatechol oxidase activity was described. The time necessary to oxidize L-ascorbic acid during the enzymic reaction in the incubator is measured by a smooth Pt and a satd. calomel electrode, which register the formation of quinoid compds. with a potential change. The corresponding deviations of the connected registering mirror galvanometer are recorded on photographic paper.
