Application of oscillographic polarography or reaction kinetic measurements. II

Abstract: cf. CA 55, 15182i. By oscillographic polarography, the rate of alk. hydrolysis of esters of p-aminobenzoic acid: benzocaine (I), procaine (II), and Larocaine (III); Et nicotinate (IV), isonicotinate (V), and picolinate (VI); Ph salicylate (VII), arecoline (VIII); and penicillin G (IX), decompd. in alk. medium, was measured. The activation energy was detd. as I 11.6, II 11.4, III 7.43, IV 14.3, V 12.5, VI 13.7, VII 19.6, VIII 11.5, and IX 10.1 kcal./mole.
