Modification of rubber. IV. The composition of mixtures after grafting butadienestyrene rubber with styrene

Abstract: Several systems of solvent-ppt.: CHCl₃-(CH₃)2CO, C₆H₆MeOH, C₆H₆-(CH₃)₂CO, C₆H₆-(CH₃)₂CO + MeOH 9:1, 3:1, 1:1 by vol. and C₆H₆-petr. ether, were tried out for sepn. of butadiene-styrene rubber grafted with styrene. A method based on the selective pptn. of C₆H₆ solns. with petr. ether was worked out. It was found that with increasing time of mixing, the amt. of interpolymer increased. There was no seeding by initiation with K₂S₂O₈ of a mixt. of styrene and butadiene-styrene latex, but by BZ₂O₂ initiation, a seeded polymer was formed.
