The o-tolidine method of determination of chlorine dioxide in presence of chlorine

Abstract: ClO2 in concns. of 0.1-1 mg./l. is detd., after previous redn. of interfering Cl with a soln. of malonic acid (2 ml./100 ml.), by redn. with 1 ml. o-tolidine soln. (I) (0.135% in 2N HCl) and photometry exactly 3 min. later. The extinction decreases rapidly between 3 and 5 min. after the addn. of I.
