Physicochemical analyses of some systems important in aluminum production. VIII. The density of melts of the system Na₃AlF₆-Al₂O₃-NaCl

Abstract: cf. CA 57, 13220d. A diagram of the dependence of the d. of melts of the system Na₃AlF₆Al₂O₃-NaCl on the compn. at 1000° was constructed. In the system Na₃AlF₆-Al₂O₃ the d. of the melt decreases with increasing concn. of Al₂O₃. The addn. of NaCl to melts of the system Na₃AlF₆-Al₂O₃ decreases the d. This decrease is caused by the entrance of Cl^- of relatively high radius into the melt and by decreasing the temp. of primary crystn. of melts of the system Na₃AlF₆-Al₂O₃-NaCl at increasing concn. of NaCl.
